Sutton & East Surrey did have problems with metaldehyde in Autumn 2008, but only where surface water is used, which represents less than 20% of their requirement. They have also had some issues with Oilseed rape and bean herbicides, but are increasing their Active Carbon Filtration to cope with that in the short term. This year is different, Nicola Houlahan, Water Quality Director told us that they have not experienced any problems with agrochemicals or nutrients so far this year. Nitrates have not been a problem at this treatment works.
